Pinewood Derby

Every year, Cub Scout Pack 1967 hosts a Pinewood Derby competition for scouts and their families. Pinewood Derby competition involves two categories: Speed and Show. The first place winners for Speed and Show from each Cub Scout rank level will compete in the Patriot District Pinewood Derby. The cars that are entered in the Patriot District Pinewood Derby must be the same car that won at the Pack level. Therefore, our Pack rules for the Pinewood Derby follow the District rules, which are updated annually.

Pack 1967 provides Official Pinewood Derby Car Kits to its scouts for purposes of participating in the Pinewood Derby. Adults should work with the Scout and make the car as a project together, allowing the Scout to lead with their own creative ability. Adults should always supervise the use of any sharp or powered tools (drills, saws, sanders, etc.), but let the Scout get as much fun and experience out of building the car as possible. When possible, Pack 1967 coordinates car-cutting workshops for Scouts and their families.

In addition to Den level competitions and awards, Pack 1967's Pinewood Derby includes a Friends and Family division. This is often the most competitive and interesting division to watch on race day!
